Looking for a unique little treat to separate your wedding from the rest? If so, The House of Brigadeiros has you covered with their decadent, homemade Brazilian truffles. And trust us, they're just as tasty as they look!
Brigadeiros are a traditional Brazilian dessert, made from condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter, and chocolate sprinkles covering the outside layer.
We sat down with the lovely ladies from The House of Brigadeiros to chat about how they got started in the business and what their goals are for the upcoming year.
Keep reading to hear what they had to say (and maybe drool over the looks of their brigadeiros, too.) And make sure to sweeten your day with their exclusive Forever Bride deal––25 complementary brigadeiros for your bridal shower when mentioning you found them on Forever Bride.
What is your mission?
Christina: Our mission is to provide freshly made products using the best quality and natural ingredients. We are passionate about bringing joy in every bite.
How long has your company been around?
Christina: We've been around since April, 2017.
What are your company’s top three core values?
Christina: Our core values are:
1. Delivering high quality products - We strive for excellence in everything we do.
2. Customer focus - We are passionate about providing the best experience embracing our customers' needs as our own.
3. Bringing Joy - Creating sweet memories by bringing joy in every bite.
What do you love about weddings?
Christina: The idea of being part of someone’s love story. This is a period in time that people will always remember and cherish.
What sets you apart from other dessert companies?
Christina: A brigadeiro is a kind of Brazilian truffle that isn’t very common in the US.
One big difference is that we don’t mass produce. We always craft our product to order and hand decorate them.
We can adjust the colors on ribbons and candy holders to match your party colors. From party favors to tiered displays there’s many ways to offer these desserts to your guests. Some options are truffle towers, dessert and champagne or wine, late night dessert bar, as treats in the bride and/or the groom dressing rooms, wedding favors, as a welcome gift in the hotel room or even as a special thank you to people who helped the most.
We always offer the option to adjust the head count after all your RSVP’s come in.
From starting the business to where the company is today, what have been some of the biggest challenges and how did the company overcome them?
Christina: Perhaps the top two things that come to mind are:
1. Product uniqueness - This is an advantage and a challenge. People are not familiar with what a brigadeiro is.
2. The Overall challenges of starting a new business such as not having baseline data for decision making, limited funds and dealing with the unknown.
To overcome these challenges, we utilized farmers markets to gather feedback on the product. This allowed us to identify best sellers and the best way to describe the product. Through this process we also solidified our market focus and venues to gain visibility.
What are some of your goals for the next year?
Christina: We want to increase market penetration, identify additional venues where our product can be sold/offered (tea & coffee shops, events places), diversify products and introduce a spreadable brigadeiro.
To what do you attribute your success/the company’s success?
Christina: I believe that every success story involves hard work, but I have find out that the wedding business is an incredible community. It is filled with people that believe in doing their best and support one another to make every bride and grooms' dream a reality.
If you could give the world, your friends, or your clients, one piece of advice, what would it be?
Christina: Surround yourselves with people that believe in you and your dreams.
Who is a role model or someone that inspires you?
Christina: In general I would say powerful women. An example is Jessica––Founder and CEO of Joyfolie. She started her business from her garage around 2010. For 8 months she produced her line of items from her garage with no air conditioning in Houston. It was 3 years before she took a salary for the first time and now has become part of the 3% of women clearing $1M in revenue per year. She worked really hard, despite feeling overwhelmed and questioning herself. She quickly adapted to change and strives for continuous improvement. One of my favorite things she says is: “Entrepreneurship is filled by passion by loving what you do.”
She is determined on raising the 3% and has begun a series of videos where she share key things about conducting business, about challenges her business has or is facing and how she has work through them.
What are you currently watching on Netflix OR what is your favorite book right now?
Christina: "Born a Crime" by Trevor Noah. It’s a story of courage, overcoming adversity and not letting circumstances dictate your life and future.
We absolutely loved sitting down with these lovely ladies from The House of Brigadeiros to chat about their business. They even brought us some brigadeiros to try for ourselves! We give them two thumbs up!!!!
